Who I Am...

My name is Kate Hash and I am a young family portrait photographer located in Louisville, Kentucky. I'm married to my wonderful husband Rob and we have an adorable dog, Winston. Both of these guys are regularly featured on my blog!

What I Do...

My passion is family portrait photography. My work is photojournalistic, artistic and stylish. I'm all about capturing the endearing, silly, wonderful and heartwarming moments of family life. If you've come to my blog looking for a way to escape the dreaded studio backdrop shots...you've found it!

Happy New Year…and some new photos!

First, I want to wish everyone a very happy new year. I can’t believe how fast 2009 went by. I can only hope that 2010 is as fun, exciting and rewarding as this past year has been!

Now, on to the fun stuff! This past Saturday I met up with a big, wonderful family here in Louisville. It never ceases to amaze me how insanely nice the people are that I work with and this family was no exception. We had a lot of fun at home and then we all braved the cold for some pretty outside shots. Enjoy!

Seriously, little boys make the cutest/funniest faces. I think I need to add a gallery to my website of all the funny faces I have!

Sarah & Kent’s Family

Earlier today I was lucky enough to photograph Kent and Sarah’s adorable family! Kyle is your typical three-year old boy (funny, cute and energetic!) and Anna is a precious 3-month old.

We got lucky and had a beautiful late-fall day, which meant some great outside photos. I had so much fun with this great family!

Kabir’s First Birthday

On the afternoon of Halloween, I had the pleasure of taking photos at Kabir’s first birthday party. Seriously, I think it may have been the coolest first birthday I ever seen! Kabir’s mom Tania did an amazing job with the party. All of the guests were so gracious and fun….I had such a great time!

Before they cut the cake for guests, each of Kabir’s immediate family members fed him a small piece. It was quite lovely to watch…what a wonderful tradition to have!

Finally, I couldn’t help but include a photo of this adorable little guy. I spotted him a few times throughout the afternoon taking photos with the camera facing the wrong way. Those pictures are going to be so funny!

Where Have You Been?

I’ve officially had about 10 people ask why I haven’t posted in over a month.

Here’s my story: I’m finishing up an intensive internship as part of my graduate program. Summar has been madness, but it will all be done in about 3 weeks. Then, I’ll be back to photographing (yay!), blogging (yay!) and gearing up for what I hope will be a productive fall photography season.

Until then, back to work…I will leave you with a cute photo of Winston to make up for it.

Still here!

Wow, it’s been a crazy past few weeks for me! It’s all been worth it though because this past weekend I was home in Philly to spend time with my sister and (surprise!) celebrate her baby shower with our friends and family.

My sister is one of those pregnant women you see on the street that is all belly and looks better from behind now then I do on a regular day.  If I look half that good when I start having kids I will be a very happy girl. She’s due the end of July, but I’ve got my money on the first week of the month.

For those that know the Philly area, we took these photos at Tyler Park in Bucks County…right near Bucks County Community College. It’s a great spot and we got some great photos. The last two are my favorites.

I’m soooo excited to come home in the fall and take some photos of baby Parker!

Baby Claire

Before I left for Rockport,  I had the pleasure of meeting beautiful baby Claire.  Her mother Heather and the rest of the family were so welcoming and up for trying out different shots…including me putting their child in a basket on the front step. I love when people are totally open to fresh ideas!

I think the photos are adorable. Hope you enjoy them!

Back from Rockport, MA

Rob and I were in Rockport, Massachusetts for a few days to celebrate the wedding of our friends Nicole and Graham. Nicole was my roomate in Florence, Italy when we both lived there for six months back in 2005.  We also got to catch up with newly-engaged friends in Boston, as well. It was a busy weekend, but also relaxing and really fun.

I had a newborn photo session right before we left and I’ll be posting some of my favorites from that session later today. Until then, here are a few of my favorite photos from Rockport.

Rob is so much braver than me. I refused to get any closer to the edge of the rocks:

Stacey + GJ’s Family

Today I met Stacey, GJ, Ethan and Ella downtown for a photo session. I think if someone had told Stacey and me when we booked the session that it would be about 55 degrees and windy (in mid-May…in the South), I’m not sure I would’ve believed them. But, this family is awesome and kept their spirits and energy high. The result? Some great photographs!

Stacy writes a wonderful blog, All Because Two People Fell in Love. If you’re someone that loves giveaways, cool reviews and honest opinions, you should definitely be reading this blog! Stacey’s advice on everything from clothing to electronics to books is a help to anyone trying to figure out the best new products on the market.

I’m also excited to announce that we’re going to be giving away an Option #1 Photography Session on Stacey’s blog! This package comes with a half hour photo session, 15-20 images on CD, 1 11×14, 1 8×10 and 2 5×7s. Be sure to keep an eye on Stacey’s blog and enter to win!

Now, here are some of my favorite shots from today…

Heather + Christopher’s Family

On Saturday I met up with Heather and Christopher and their adorable daughters Chloe and Cadence. Those two girls were made for the camera! Thankfully, Cherokee Park hadn’t been mowed lately — bad for walkers, good for tall-grass photos, which I love! I got some great shots of this wonderful family!

Heather has the most honest, endearing smile…

How pretty are Cadence’s eyes?!

Ah, sisterly love…I still make this face when my sister tries to kiss me. I kid, I kid.

This just might be my favorite picture of the session. I had a face just like this growing up…it usually meant that I had done something bad, but that I knew I would totally get away with!

So, how cute is this family?

New Blog Feature

I wanted to draw everyone’s attention to a great new feature I’ve added to the blog. It dawned on me that many of my clients probably have MySpace, Facebook or Twitter and would love to have an easy way to share my blog post(s) about their family photo session. You now have the option to click on the any of the three logos below to do just that!

This feature is in total beta mode on my site, so I encourage you all to contact me as you try to use it and let me know what you like (or don’t like) about it. At this point, I’m only offering it on Facebook, MySpace and Twitter, but would be open to suggestions regarding other social networking platforms that you use!

Have fun!
